My Grown Up Christmas List

Few more days before Christmas. It's too late putting up Christmas wishlist I know pero sabi nga nila hindi masamang mangarap. So if someone out there is kind enough to grant all my wishes, see updated list below:

 1. Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop. It's been two week
since I sold my ever reliable laptop. This will be a great replacement for Compaq as I definitely need this for file sharing, quick photo processing, Ipod syncing, watching movies etc. Sad thing though is that most of my time are spent working in the office meaning I won't be able to fully utilize this laptop.

The Killers: Live in Manila

Just read this from  Rico Blanco's tumblr, The Killers will be coming to the Philippines this January 31,2010 in SM Mall of Asia. I 've been a fan of this band way back from their first album when my officemate told me to try listening to Hot Fuss. Since then Mr. Brightside has always been part of my repertoire in every videoke we had. I'll probably save up for this one since Ne-yo will be having a concert at an earlier date, January 11,2010 in Araneta Coliseum.

Everybody Wants to be the President

The 11-day filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) has ended and drew number of hopefuls vying for national and local positions. What I really like during the application of COC is when nuisance candidates get the spotlight and gave their plans for our country.

Our only hope.

Manila in the 60's

These pictures were emailed to me yesterday and I felt that these are worth sharing. Its interesting to see what Manila looks like after the war, how the water in Manila Bay used to be blue. Who would've thought that Manila was scenic and picturesque 50 years ago. Now seriously, what have we done?

Wake Me Up Thursday

Probably the best time to take a nap if I'm not in the office. I've been busy for the past few weeks (always is) and the only way to kill the stress is to listen music. You might already have (if not all) of these in your PMP but in case you don't.

500 Days of Summer

It's been awhile since I've watch a romantic comedy this good and appealing again. Nowadays few films capture the sensation of falling in love as well as this movie does.As you all know,Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Tom,a wannabe architect who falls in love with Summer (Zooey Deschanel) at the Los Angeles greeting card production company where both work. It’s flawlessly played romantic comedy, endlessly inventive, and if you’ve ever experienced the darker side of young love, incredibly true to life without coming off as cliched or patronizing. Kudos to director Marc Webb and writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber for bringing all sorts of cinematic tricks to a genre that normally has little use for them.

Reasons why this movie will eventually end up as the most original date movie of the year:

LSS of the Week: 30 Seconds to Mars - Kings and Queens

Yesterday I was looking forward to finish my task before Wednesday but then another FML moment ruin what could have been a weekend to look forward to. I'm like Sam Briggs in a way I tend to attract trouble. Bad things has happened in rapid succession this day. Feeling stressed out I was able to get rid of the blues by listening to the new song of the band 30 Seconds to Mars "Kings and Queens" from their upcoming album "This is War". Here is the unofficial lyrics of the song, quite short for song that's more than 5 minutes.

What I've Been Missing Lately

Lately  I've been ranting about  being so busy for this past few months with regards to work. I've been sacrificing my TV series time with work or sleeping time. These instances cause me to missed  a lot of TV series lately, to name a few season 2 of True Blood and  Leverage.  As you all know the second or third week of September paves way to another season of Dexter, Fringe, Heroes,Star Wars and don't forget to mention another new show called Glee.

For Fringe addicts see the Fringe promotional poster of season 2.

PBA 35th Season Preview Part 2

Here is the part 2 of my season preview of the coming PBA's 35th Season:

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters

WHLY: Swept in the quarterfinals. series by Sta. Lucia
Key Additions: Jeff Chan, Mark Telan and Mike
Hrabak,Nur Jam Alfad, Marcy Arellano and Jervy Cruz (Draft)

The Painters are well on their way to be one of the serious team contending for the crown.Their thin front line greatly improved with the addition of Jervy Cruz, Mark Telan and Hrabak. Consistency still remains a problem with their young core.

PBA 35th Season

The 35th season Philippine Basketball Association will open this coming Sunday, October 11. As usual off-season moves and promising new rookies will spice up the upcoming season. The killerfiller will make a season preview of each team that will be competing in the KFC Phillipine Cup.

 Alaska Aces

WHLY: Lost Game 7 Phillipine Cup Finals last year to the eventual
championTalk 'n Text.

Key Additions: Mike Burtscher (Draft)

Not so much changes as their line up is still in tact. I can see them sitting for the number 1 to 4 slots after the eliminations. Where the team goes depends on Willie Miller's performance this season. Sophomore Borboran and Dela Pena will provide energy on the bench as second stringers.

Spam Filter

Most of us are frustrated and annoyed when we received spam messages in our inbox in our personal email. Emails with advertisement, promos, adult content, and chain letters are always included in my deleted items so to speak. I personally get to read some of the messages that are down right funny. Here's an email that have been in my personal email for over 2 or 3 years now. This message never fails to make me laugh.

Life on Support

Today officially marks my one year working as an analyst/programmer-production support for an insurance company. I was actually hired as a analyst/programmer in development-deployment team for an up and coming project for the company but then due to unforeseen circumstances (aka recession) I end up in production support team. In a nutshell in any organization a production support group starts with the following process: submission of raised tickets, analysis and design phase, code unit testing, system-integration tests and the formal build. And just like any other job being in a production support has its pros and cons. Here's a rundown of the pros and cons of being in a production support group.

LSS of the Week: New Perspective by Panic at the Disco

From Urban Dictionary,

Last Song Syndrome -To listen to music before going out of the house, and having the last song you hear before leaving stick in your head all through your journey, and beyond. Is usually accompanied by subconscious humming. This syndrome is particularly dangerous when the song happens to be the most pathetic, crappy, albeit catchy song ever.

Currrently the song currently stuck on my mind is "New Perspective" by Panic! At the Disco. This song will be part of the soundtrack for the movie Jennifer's Body.

Jennifer Love Hewitt as Wonder Woman?

MTV has reported that Jennifer Love Hewitt wouldn’t mind wearing the Star-Spangled Swimsuit to play that most awesome of Amazons — Wonder Woman.

Her qualifications (according to her): she’s curvaceous, athletic, has a propensity for gold bracelets (this may be a problem, however, as WW’s bracelets are not gold), and she loves tiaras.

Modest Mouse video directed by Heath Ledger

LOS ANGELES – Heath Ledger's latest directorial work has been released.

The music video Ledger directed for "King Rat" by Modest Mouse debuted online Tuesday. The six-minute, animated video is both whimsical and dark, showing whales and dolphins aboard a ship, fishing for humans in the water.

It concludes with a message in white letters on a black screen: "This began with our friend, a great defender of life, and was completed in his spirit."

Ledger was 28 when he died last year. Modest Mouse announced in March that it would release the video "in honor of Heath's last piece of work as a director," according to spokeswoman Lisa Markowitz. The actor previously directed a video for one of Ben Harper's songs. -AP

Horror story printed on toilet paper in Japan

TOKYO -- In a country where ghosts are traditionally believed to hide in the loo, a Japanese company is advertising a new literary experience - a horror story printed on toilet paper.

Each roll carries several copies of a new nine-chapter novella written by Koji Suzuki, the Japanese author of the horror story "Ring," which has been made into movies in both Japan and Hollywood.

"Drop," set in a public restroom, takes up about three feet (90 centimeters) of a roll and can be read in just a few minutes, according to the manufacturer, Hayashi Paper.
Japan Scary Toilet Paper
Japanese author Koji Suzuki, of the 1998 Hollywood film "Ring," poses with toilet paper rolls printed with drawing of a ghost on them to promote the product in Fuji, central Japan, Saturday, May 23, 2009. The product, dubbed "Japan's scariest toilet paper," carries Suzuki's latest horror story "Drop" for release next month. The toilet paper roll would be "a horror experience in the toilet," manufacturer said.

The company promotes the toilet paper, which will sell for 210 yen ($2.20) a roll, as "a horror experience in the toilet."

Toilets in Japan were traditionally tucked away in a dark corner of the house due to religious beliefs. Parents would tease children that a hairy hand might pull them down into the dark pool below.

Dear Bob Ong

Dear Mr. Bob Ong,

Roses? Kalachuchi? Chocnut at sampaguita?

In lab na po ako. Ano po ang gagawin ko? Is she the one?

Lubos na gumagalang,
-MATT -

- ANG REPLY -

Dear MATT,

Ano ba pare? Ano’ng era ka ba pinanganak?

Pero don’t worry. It’s not too late. Mga medyo more than your usual regalong panligaw:

Tapos pabuksan mo in front of everyone.

Later during the day, pag tinanong niya kung bakit Century Tuna ang binigay mo, iikot mo yung lata at ituro mo yung sign na “Omega 8.” Pag tinanong niya kung ano yung Omega 8, sabihin mo: “because you’re good for my heart.”

Tapos, sa bawat hanger, isulat mo: “I miss hanging out with you.”

Tapos bilugan mo yung “with Omega 8.” Hindi na siya magtatanong kung bakit.

5. Bigyan mo ng ice cream cone. Dapat cone lang at walang ice cream.

7. Bigyan mo siya ng mumurahing bumbilya. Alam mo na siguro by this time kung ano ang isasagot pag tinanong niya kung bakit.

Handang tumulong lagi,

-Bob Ong-

What a layoff!

Just received this from my inbox this morning,

The Singapore way!

A fire alarm rang at 4 PM when almost all shift employees are in office (approx 5000).
As usual entire office was evacuated within 3 mins and every employee gathered outside
office. 10 mins passed.............5 more mins passed........5 more mins passed.

Then a security officer started an announcement: "Dear Employees - With melting heart I am making this announcement that for many of you it will a last evacuation drill. Due to the
recession we are laying off almost 50% of the employees. While moving in if your ID card does
not work, then you are among those laid off and all your belongings will be couriered to you
tomorrow. We have followed this approach as we didn't want to fill email box with layoff mails and good bye mails in thousand and also to avoid any fight inside office.

Hope you have a nice career ahead. Please move in and try your luck."

Calaguas is Love

Calaguas Sunset pero walang sun from Brian

It's been awhile since the kill3rfill3r has a new post.Basically a normal day for the kill3rfill3r would include an 8 hours(or more:) stay in the office investigating/coding/bug fixin'/head scratchin' for an insurance company web application. Yours truly managed to escape the daily drudgery by going to an island in the sun aka as Calaguas Island. This trip was'nt really in my summer list as I was only invited by a friend via travelfactor.
An 8 hours travel time from Manila-Daet and a two hour boat ride from Vinzon's fishport to Calaguas Islands is worth it.With its white sand beaches (parang polvoron ng Goldilocks..promise!), crystal clear waters, untouched natural resources (virgin na virgin) and magnificent view.. you will definitely find a reason to be happy. An ultimate beachbumming experience(UBBE) indeed kze wala kang ibang gagawin kundi mag-swimming,relax,kumain at uminom.

during socials

Our group also manage to make a sidetrip as this was not included in the itinerary - an island hopping experience in Malasagui Island, Apuao Island and Caminog Island with travelfactor peeps.
Malasagui Island
Apuao Island
And as for the travelfactor experience... PANALO!, definitely not the first time to go on tour with them because by May 1-4 we'll be Chillin' in Camiguin! Yep! You read it right another beachbumming experience.

Golden Temple cereal box typo sends callers to phone sex line

HALFWAY, Md. (AP) - An Oregon company has ordered new packaging for its Peace Cereal after a typo on the box sent callers to a phone sex line instead of the cereal maker's 800 number.

Instead of reaching Golden Temple of Oregon, callers were greeted by a recorded voice asking, "Do you love sex? ... Isn't that why you called?"

Spokeswoman Elissa Brown says Eugene, Ore.-based Golden Temple ordered new packaging when the mistake was discovered in December and new boxes have been shipping out for weeks.

However, 13 varieties of the cereal were on shelves Wednesday at one Halfway, Md., grocery store, including seven varieties in boxes bearing the incorrect telephone number.

Golden Temple is privately owned by a nonprofit organization and was founded by Yogi Bhajan, according to the company's Web site.

GOOGLE EARTH 60ft penis painted on roof

Teenager Rory McInnes painted a 60ft penis on the roof of his parent's home after watching a documentary on Google Earth. The lad, currently on his gap year, painted the giant phallus in 2008, but it wasn't discovered until a year later when a helicopter pilot spotted it and allowed his passengers to take photos. According to the 'Daily Mail', the boy's dad didn't believe it when he was first told: "It's an April Fool's joke, right? There's no way there's a 60ft phallus on top of my house." But after ringing around each of his four children, Rory owned up to the painting, reportedly saying: "Oh, you've found it then!"

Megan Fox is Fathom

After years of being adrift in development hell, Michael Turner's Fathom is finally heading to the big screen with Megan Fox in tow as the lead character, Aspen Matthews.

"I think she's fantastic for this part," exclaimed Aspen MLT President, Frank Mastromauro. "She knows so much about Fathom, which is spectacular. Growing up she was a huge fan of the book and a huge fan of Michael's. When we met her, she was already well versed in [Fathom] volume one and [was] asking us questions about the book. And it's just really great to have someone who is enthusiastic about the material. Not because it's another movie they're making, but because it's a movie that in their heart they want to make because they love the character and they love Michael and the people who created it so much. Of course it's fantastic that she's in some great movies–Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen–she's definitely the 'it' girl right now. And I think she's going to do a fantastic job. I've met her several times and I know she's really into the project.

"When [Michael Turner] met Megan he thought she was fantastic," continued Mastromauro. "He was 100 percent for it and couldn't have been happier. He honestly couldn't have pictured someone else doing this right now, just due to the fact that Megan was so into the character. It's a no-brainer. She just translates Mike's beautiful woman into live action perfectly." ,br.,br. The screenplay will be based on the first volume of Fathom and will be adapted by Jordan Mechner, the creator of the Prince of Persia video game series (and also the screenwriter of the forthcoming Prince of Persia movie produced by Jerry Bruckheimer). Put on your boardshorts and sunglasses as I run down the best tunes guaranteed to get you in a summer state of mind.

#1 Into Yesterday by Sugar Ray

I was choosing "Someday" also from Sugar Ray but this song taken from Surf's Up movie has more beach vibe.
Whenever I listen to this song all my problems go away eventhough I can't surf.

#2 Sailing by Urbandub

One my fave Urbandub song! If you want to do something out of the ordinary this summer I suggest you include this song in your PMP's!
In my speed boat we be speeding

In my sail boat we be sailing
In my tug boat we be tugging
In my pump boat we be pumping

Ultimate torpe song for the summer, if you're into summer flings this one's for you.

#4
I'm Yours by Jason Mraz

Jason Mraz voice, the melody, everything about the song is chill. This song make me feel at ease.

#5 Summer Song
by Silent Sanctuary

Whenever I hear this song it means that summer has officially started. A good song to listen up while driving to the beach and the whole barkada sings. I would'nt be surprised if GMA or ABS will use this for their summer campaign.

#6 Amber
by 311

Love the song so much, just makes me happy and relaxed like nothing can ever go wrong. Also remind me of the movie 50 First Dates.

Put this song on when your watching sunset on the beach.

ScarJo & Mickey Rourke Help Raise Iron Curtain

Source: Yahoo!

Scarlett Johansson is joining the superhero set.

Her rep confirms that the actress has signed on to play Black Widow in the Iron Man sequel opposite Robert Downey Jr. The deal was signed this afternoon.

"Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man," her rep, Marcel Pariseau, tells me.

Meanwhile, after months of negotiations...

The Wrestler's comeback kid, Mickey Rourke, has finally sealed a deal to play villain Whiplash, according to Variety.

Rourke's team had reportedly held out for more money after Marvel's initial offer was just $250,000. Read More>>

Previously on Heroes S03E19 "Shades of Gray"

Sylar's face to face meeting with his father (Samson Gray) was very interesting. Samson provoke Sylar for taking easy targets and living with limited ambition. He also wants to take Sylar's healing ability to be able to become immortal. Eventually Sylar defeated him easily and doing so bringing the whole father storyline to an incredibly anticlimatic end. As Sylar chooses not to kill him and leaves him to die slowly with his cancer. Definitely not the last time we won't say Sylar's dad.

The conflict between Danko and Nathan finally took an interesting twist. As Danko digs into the Petrelli's secret he found out that Nathan has an abilty to fly after throwing him in the window.
Now that Nathan's secret is revealed most probably Danko will take over on the operation. In the ending scene, Sylar shows up in the Danko's house.

The not so clear storyline for me is Claire's thing with Doyle. Why in the world would you help someone who almost killed your mother all of a sudden? Another not so interesting plot is Claire's comic book store job, I just don't get it.

Despite all of it's flaws this chapter has still some aspects that keeps me watching. This is way better than the last episode. Still so many questions to answers like who is the Rebel? Where is Peter? Daphne? Mohinder? Does Parkman's son has powers? all of which we have to wait after two weeks.

Eraserheads The Final Set

Twas around 4 in the afternoon when we went to MOA para maaga sa parking.Bronze lang naman yung ticket kaya no need to rush to line up to the gates so we went the cinemas to watch Watchmen. The movie ended up around 7:30, that's the time we get in to the venue.

8:28 PM,crowd was cheering when the countdown starts from Z to A and eventually
stops at E. Magasin was the first song of the concert and the crowd sings along with them. The first set includes the following

*Magasin/Walang Nagbago/Maling Akala/Maskara/Poor Man's Grave/Waiting for the Bus/Huwag mo nang Itanong/Slow Mo/Alkohol/Insomnia/Torpedo

Ely takes a break on vocals as Marcus sang "Huwag Mo ng Itanong" in a reggae beat to the crowds delight. Parang "Chika ang inabot ko" instead of hika and "huwag mo ng itanong...di ko sasabihin sayo".Raymund takes the mic as he sang Alkohol,Slow Mo,Insomnia while the crowd howls. The crowd wanted also to hear Buddy sing but he did'nt. I was expecting him to sing "Tama ka Nga" from Natin 99.

Breaktime, second set is more of an acoustic set

*Julie Tearjerky/Tikman/Wishing Wells/Fine Time/Pare Ko/Kailan (Piano Lounge Version)/Back2Me/Trip to Jerusalem/Spolarium/Overdrive

Ely says goodnight but the crowd clamors for more. Third Set is probably the best set. The night would'nt be officially complete without:

*Superproxy/Minsan/Alapaap/Kaleidescope World/Huling El Bimbo

It would've been better if the "Man From Manila" was there for the "Super Proxy" song, nonetheless pwede na yung rap ni Ely. I was not surprised when they played "Kaleidescope World" ,a fitting tribute to the master rapper. Unfortunately El Bimbo signals the end of the show as confettis and fireworks are on while the song is played and Ely set the stage on fire literally. Just when the crowd thought that the night was officially over when they bowed down on the stage. Buddy and Raimund went to the stage and ask the audience "Gusto niyo pa?", the crowd said yes of course. Ely announced to the crowd "Here's three for the road." An encore performance as they played

Ligaya/Sembreak/Toyang

The intensity might not be the same as the first one but nonetheless it's a celebration of the Eraserheads legacy and they were able to finish the concert and that's good enough.

Watchmen Movie Reviews

The graphic novel that most believed could not be filmed took two decades to get into cinemas thanks to Zack Snyder's sheer will. After 3 days it was shown here's some of the movie reviews I came across the net.

RT| Gritty and visually striking, Watchmen is a faithful adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel, but its complex narrative structure may make it difficult for it to appeal to viewers not already familiar with the source material. Read More>>

Time| Watchmen has moments of greatness. It proves again that the action movie is where the best young Hollywood brains have gone to bring flesh to their fantasies. Read Full Review>>

New York Post|Kyle Smith|
Director Zack Snyder's cerebral, scintillating follow-up to "300" seems, to even a weary filmgoer's eye, as fresh and magnificent in sound and vision as "2001" must have seemed in 1968, yet in its eagerness to argue with itself, it resembles "A Clockwork Orange."

Entertainment Weekly|
Even Watchmen fanatics may be doomed to a disappointment that results from trying to stay THIS faithful to a comic book. Read Full Review>>

Chicago-Sun Times| Roger Ebert
It's a compelling visceral film -- sound, images and characters combined into a decidedly odd visual experience that evokes the feel of a graphic novel. It seems charged from within by its power as a fable; we sense it’s not interested in a plot so much as with the dilemma of functioning in a world losing hope. Read Full Review>>

As for the killerfiller, overall a brilliant and enjoyable movie. Two and a half hour may not be enough to satisfy the fanboys but probably more than enough to appeal to everyone else. Visual experience is nonetheless magnificent, the music is perfect ("The Times They are A'Changin","Hallelujah","The Sound of Silence") and the fight scenes are well-staged.

previously on Lost S05E08 "LaFleur"

From start to finish, this episode was just well done.

This episode followed the events after "This Place is Death", a flash brings the remaining survivors to 1974. Mainly telling Sawyer's story of what happens to those left on the island after Locke left, the time jumps have stopped and the five survivors are stuck in the past. To cut it short Sawyer become the head of Dharma security after he successfully defused the situation between Dharma and the others.Juliet and Sawyer relationship blooms in all the time they have spend together.

Just love the last scene wherein Sawyer finally met Jack,Hurley and Kate.Full of emotions, twist, mysteries and excitement as always. This episode did'nt tell every secret that needs to know bout the series but still absolutely perfect episode.

BOTTOM LINE: "EXCITING"
