Never knew that the recently deceased North Korean dictator was a secret fan of trance and electronica. They don't call him 'IL' for nothing.

NBA Forever

TNT opened up a gorgeous new commercial for the start of the NBA season. It fuses footage involving new players with old-school footage, that  leaves us a goosebumps. It  sort of  gives you  a glimpse of what it would be like to see the league's superstars of today play alongside the stars of yesteryear. Lo and behold:

I just got chills watching the whole ad,welcome back NBA!

Coming Attractions: Wrath of the Titans

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year-old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus's godly son, Ares (Édgar Ramírez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus's remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son, Agenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Perseus is back and ready to kick more Titans ass. Warner Brothers just recently released the teaser trailer for "Wrath of the Titans", a two-minute look at the what happens when the Titans get loose of their supernatural prison.  Looks like it has gone all-out to include as much stuff as possible from the dramatic slow-mo of Perseus sheathing weapon to Perseus wrestling moves on a chained CGI beast. Not too mention Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) in the background (terrible choice of song IMHO). The first movie sucked but this looks promising. Overall it's a great trailer but it looks like a video game  to me.

Wrath of the Titans will be released on March 30, 2012.

Coming Attractions: The Dark Knight Rises

Probably one of the most anticipated movie next year.  Some say Anne Hathaway was a terrible choice for Selena Kyle, but I won't comment on that right now. Anyway here's the premise of the story,

Following the death of District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman assumes responsibility for Dent's crimes in order to protect Dent's reputation and is hunted as a fugitive by the Gotham City Police Department. Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Gotham has recovered from the Joker's killing spree, and is experiencing a time of peace. A warning from the "enigmatic" Selina Kyle foreshadows a coming cataclysm, prompting Batman to return to the city where he must stop the villain Bane and his plans to destroy Gotham.-Wikipedia

A League of Our Own

With the release of the  revised NBA schedule, the excitement builds up for the upcoming  2011-12 NBA season. Just last weekend we held our NBA Fantasy Draft (now on it's second year) and it was a blast. The year was more fun compared to last year since most of the team owners were present during the live draft. Imagine the cramming we have to do just to analyze all the player stats before picking up on our pick. And just like last year I was the first pick again. At first I was a bit undecided if I take Lebron James again for the first pick over Kevin Durant. Just by merely looking at their stats, it's no brainer that Miami Heat superstar will be m first pick after all. Anyway here's how my roster goes:

1st Pick Lebron James
Miami Heat,SF | Stats

Despite last season's team up with superstar Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, Lebron  still managed to average almost triple double in points, rebounds and assists department.

20th Pick Rajon Rondo
Boston Celtics,PG| Stats

With all the rumors regarding the status of Rondo in Boston, I still believe that he will still end up in Celtics uniform. And with the selection of elite point guards in the earlier round (such as CP3,D-Will,Westbrook and current MVP Derek Rose) why not get one of the assist league leaders for my second round pick.

21st Pick Zach Randolph
Memphis Grizzlies,PF | Stats

One of the reason why my last year team ranks amongst the leader in rebounds would be Zach Randolph. A beast inside the paint with decent perimeter shooting. His availability in the third round is hard to pass up.

40th Pick Nene
Denver Nuggets,C | Stats

One of the most sought after free-agents for the season. This is a gamble on my part, as his team to suit up is still uncertain. Hopefully he'll contribute on rebounds, points and field goal percentage.

41st Pick JaVale McGee
Washington Wizards,C | Stats

Although he is still incredibly raw and inconsistent, JaVale McGee displayed incredible upside with 10.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game in his third professional season. The 23-year-old is still improving and has a seemingly limitless ceiling.- Brian McKitish

60th Pick Nick Young
Washington Wizards,SG | Stats
Another free agent drawing interest from Chicago Bulls who's in need of a guy who can create shots to help Derek Rose in terms of scoring. Regardless if he stays or not with the Wizards, he's a young player with a big upside.

61st Pick Ray Allen
Boston Celtics,SG | Stats

He's older, but that doesn't mean he's on the decline just yet. Great players like Ray Allen can go from superstars to stars to good players slowly, compared to the rapid decline of some players that peak seven years into their career and are out of the league in another six. Allen will have another stellar season for a 36-year-old, especially with Rajon Rondo getting him three open looks a game.- Jesse Dorsey

80th Pick Aaron Afflalo
Denver Nuggets,SG | Stats

With the departure of JR Smith and Wilson chandler to China, this should be a banner year for Aaron Afflalo.

81st Pick  Tyrus Thomas
Charlotte Bobcats,PF | Stats

Charlotte has declared Tyrus Thomas a big part of their future with the five-year contract they awarded him, his best days ARE ahead. -Spencer Percy

100th Pick  Demarr DeRozan
Toronto Raptors,SG | Stats

Still has a long way to go before he's a well-rounded fantasy player, but he made incredible leaps as a scorer, increasing his average from 8.6 per game as a rookie to 17.2 per game as a sophomore. The Raptors have a vested interest in seeing their 2009 first-round pick succeed, and we should expect to see him on the court for 35-plus minutes per night, where he'll be an asset in points, steals and the percentages
-Brian McKitish

101st Pick  Jeff Teague
Atlanta Hawks,PG | Stats

Thanks to Kirk Hinrich shoulder injury, he was able to showcase his overall ability in the  second round playoff series against the Bulls.

120th Pick  Chase Budinger
Houston Rockets,SF | Stats

With the departure of Shane Battier, he should logged more minutes in the small forward position.

121st Pick  Vince Carter
Phoenix Suns,SG| Stats

Said to be waived by Suns when the free agency begins.

The NBA Lockout is Over

Can Dirk and the  Mavs do it again?
You probably heard of this when the news came out over the weekend .As an NBA fan I mummed over the excitement that the lockout is over which is tentatively set to begin on Christmas day with a triple header. The word tentative is included in the previous statement since there is no official word yet. Hence my reason for not getting excitement over the said news.

Lockout no more
As to whether the season schedule, free-agent signing. and preseason games is still unclear as of today brighter day looms for all the NBA fans out there. One thing's for sure it'll definitely be a different ball game when the season begins. And finally the NBA Fantasy league at the office will commence come Christmas time. Time for some revenge.

Chic-Boy Goes Japanese

If you haven't tried Chic-Boy, you're probably living under the rock for the longest time. Chic-Boy is one of the fastest growing grill of restaurant in the country. For the price of 99 pesos you get a hefty serving of Cebu Lechon and  rice-all-you-can treat.  Add 25 pesos and you get yourself a bottomless iced-tea. They offer  a lot more variety to their rice-all-you-can meals compare to Mang Inasal. Chicken Inasal, Liempo, Barbeque,
Cebu Lechon Manok and of course everyone's favorite Cebu Lechon Baboy. Don't forget the sumptuous side orders and desserts as well. You can check on their site for the complete menu.

Just when you thought they had enough on their menu. They turn Japanese.Wow! Not sure yet if these are available already, but these would be another reason to visit Chic-Boy again.

Trivia: I've been joining running event lately. As a preparation for the run, kumakain ako araw-araw sa Chicboy.

Parked Car, Night Sky

Sea of Red

It was literally a sea of red as around 8,000 runners flocked the streets  Bonifacio Global City during the 2011  Nike Run Manila last Saturday. When the race was launched last month I was already anticipating a big turnout for the said event. Imagined for only 650 you get  a really nice dri-fit shirt and water bottle from Nike. The finishers kit also come  with a nice bag (may pang-Divisoria na ako).  The 2GB USB has to wait though due to some delay in production.

HHWWPSSP Holding Hands While Walking Pa-Sway Sway Pa - sign ng DTNL
Since I signed up early for the half marathon for the Adidas 2011 King of the Road, I didn't set any goals or personal records that I want to achieved for the said race. I just treated this as sort of training for my upcoming Adidas 21K race. This is actually my first night race, so me and my friends just enjoyed the leisurely run/walk.

Pardon the blurry night shot of BGC skyline, I was actually running when I took this picture.
Much has been said for the said event, from positive to negative reactions. Anyway here are some few observations for the said event:
  • A wave should have been implemented in the starting line since there is there is only one category. The route eventually become crowded that made it difficult for some participants to run freely.
  • Just loved the songs that were played during the run. If I can remember Party Rock Anthem and Move Like Jagger were played during the warm-up at the starting line. Parang party lang.:)
  •  The hydration stations were set-up nicely and sufficient enough  to hydrate everyone.

  • There were some parts that were poorly lighted. I think it is the 8K-9K area the road leading to Kalayaan Ave. It's so dark that I accidentally bumped into some runners.
  • Just as any other running event the baggage area were pretty chaotic. Nothing new there. I already expected this, buti na lang may dalang kotse yung mga running buddies ko.
  • As for the finishers kit, there were none. Aside from the Powerade and bottled water you get a promissory note saying that there were some delays on the production of the thumb drive. I just wished they could've announced it on an earlier date, these just cause some disappointments for some runners. Tsaka sayang sa papel.:p
  • Parokya ni Edgar, Sandwich and Chicosci definitely rocks in the post race event. We weren't able to watch the concert though as we were busy munching on our Crispy Bacon Melt at the Fort Strip.

Despite of some shortcomings from organizers and fellow participants, the event wasn't that bad at all. Overall we enjoyed the run. I'm already looking forward to a better Nike We Run Manila next year.

Finally Got My GetGlue Stickers!

Finally my GetGlue sticker were delivered yesterday.Woot! Woot! In case you don't know what I'm talking about, GetGlue is basically like Foursquare only you check into what you are currently watching (be it a movie, DVD or TV), listening (music), reading(books, graphic novels etc) and thinking. What's good about is you get stickers (physical copy delivered in your doorstep) for checking in variety of things. After you're rewarded with 20 stickers, the site will notify you that the physical copies will be mailed to you. And just like that after 3 weeks, I finally got my first batch of stickers. The stickers i unlocked we're pretty lame and generic. For now I'm planning to give it to my friends (especially the Selena and Rihanna stickers) and put some on our car.

Selena looks lovely here though.
I can't wait for the second batch! I have yet to figure out what I’m going to do with the second batch.Any suggestions as to where I should put them on?

Memories Are Cheap: In the Middle of September

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

September by Daughtry

Time flies when you're having fun. Can't believe it's been 5 years (and were not even in our 30's). We were young back then, and I have to say it was the most important  decision for both of us. Who would have thought we'd last this long. To @shielavanilla you're the sweetest. Thanks for being supportive to all my endeavors.

Boracay Sundown and Lack of Judgement

Epic Boracay night starts with
a lovely afternoon

Where Great Minds Meet

When you're in Boracay, daytime are mostly spent on  resting from the numerous beach activities or  recovering  from the hangover you had. A better way to perk you up and get going for the coming night would be dropping by at Real coffee and Tea Cafe.

Real Coffee and Tea Cafe

If you happened to be walking at station 2 there's an small alley between Hawaiian BBQ  and Free Willy Dive Shop these will lead you to the said cafe. Real cafe is home to the Boracay's popular calamansi muffin. I was curios to try these yummy muffins so I bugged my wife to visit the place. She was still sleepy at that time though.
Waiting
Take a bite, it's alright
Anyway the muffin cost around 40 per piece. A little bit expensive for a muffin, yes.. but the distinct tangy taste of calamansi made it up for that. When you bite into one, you'll know exactly what the fuss was about. It's actually heavy and compact compare to other muffins, you're not biting into thin air. Simply delicious.
The place is owned by an American Lee Rosaia, who probably fell in love with the island and settled there. I wasactually looking forward to talk to her but she was busy with other customers. Their muffins are also available in boxes (great for pasalubong by the way), make sure to order them beforehand and pick them up before you leave.

The owner, Lee Rosaia talking to some customers.
After devouring on calamansi muffin, we decided to walk to Station 3. I was quite surprised because there were a lot of people  considering it was Monday at that time.

Back to D'Mall, the wife decided to go back to our hotel, probably got tired of too much walking. I decided to stay at the beach to take some last pictures of Boracay. As the sun goes down, Boracay even becomes more lively. People walking at the beach, paraw sailing, people taking pictures, skim boarding and all sort of activities that the island has to offer.
\

What actually caught my attention were the kids skim-boarding. What actually caught my attention were the kids(forgot their name) skim-boarding, they were all action.
Yun oh, Game Face!
Shadow of the Day
Lapse of Judgement

By night time the beach is filled with several buffet, giving us a hard time where to settle for dinner. Since most of them  are on the same price range we eventually found ourselves at Kalinga. The buffet cost is 250Php per person and bottomless iced tea. The service was OK but most of their meal were too damn cold (from the rice, soup all the way to the tuna). Maybe the strong wind has something to do with it but they could have at least served it warm. Bumawi na lang kami sa hipon.
Forgettable
We capped of our final night at Pat's Creek bar, a nice spot to enjoy round of beers and get a feel of acoustic vibe. So there we were lazing on the bar's drift wood chairs. Most of the songs they cover were from the 90's (Alanis, Cranberries etc.). Since we have an early flight the next day we head back to our place around 11PM.
A Fine Frenzy
