It's the Lent season again, a time of stripping down to essentials as each of us focus on our individual relationship with God. I'm not a regular church guy by any means, and though born and raise in Catholic way the opportunity to take time and reflect is very much appreciated.
A song means something different to everyone. Everyone can interpret however he likes, it just depends how you interpret it. In that note, allow me to give you the list of songs for some inward reflection.1. Pride (In the Name of Love) - U2
A song written for Martin Luther King, but I think the MLK meaning is equally as obvious as the Jesus meaning. A song that can also apply to any number of people who've struggled in the name of love.
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come, he to justify
One man to overthrow
2. Fall on Me - Moonstar88
One of my fave song from the band, a tune that can be looked at as love song and sort of a religious praise in a way.
Free me
Pick me up from this mess I've made... hear me
Reach me by your hand and ease me
There's no other answer:
I'll catch you, just fall on me
Reach me by your hand and ease me
There's no other answer:
I'll catch you, just fall on me
3. Hesus - Alamid
An absolutely awesome song. No explanation needed.
4. Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon
Again another song that can be viewed as unrequited love song or praise. But I'm looking at it on God perspective because,
He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you
And you don't know why
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you
And you don't know why
A great song way back in the year 2000 from their self-titled album. This song truly is amazing as I just can't grace it with enough, pulled together words.
You come to me when i cant see
You come to me when i fall
You come to me when i cant see
You come to me when i cant see
You comfort me when i fall...
Yahweh...
Yahweh.. Come to me..
6. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
I just love the way how Jeff Buckley sing the song. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded and Jeff Buckley has made this song as his own, he completely outdoes the Leonard Cohen's version.
7. Higher - Creed
I read somewhere that this song was written about Scott Stapp's lucid dreams. Think about this song for a second, It actually is deep. Wouldn't it be nice if there's a place where everyone gets along.
8. Alive - P.O.D.
A thinly veiled god anthem, nothing more.
I feel so alive for the very first time
I can't deny you, I feel so alive
I feel so alive for the very first time
And I think I can fly
I can't deny you, I feel so alive
I feel so alive for the very first time
And I think I can fly
9.Only Hope - Switchfoot
This song is stunning in terms of lyrics and music. The lyrics are so powerful that I'm sure we can all get something out of what's being said.
And I lay my head back down And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope
And pray to be only Yours I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope
10.You Found Me - The Fray/ Found - Phillip Larue
Two songs with same meaning. It takes everything about life into account while placing God into it as well.
There are times we don't at times lose God, so how can we find him? Sometimes you have to go there to come back. It's the hard times in our lives that we really get the opportunity to seek God.
