Top 10 American Football Movies

All that stands between the Pittsburgh Steelers (14-4) and an unprecedented sixth Super Bowl title is an odds-defying Arizona Cardinals (12-7) squad trying to end a 61-season title drought.
In celebration of football let's take a look at the best football movies of all time.

1.Remember the Titans (2000)

Denzel Washington is hired as the T.C. Williams High football coach over a white coach in Alexandria, Virginia in the early 1970's during a time when the school has just been integrated to allow blacks into the school.

2.Rudy(1993)

Rudy(Sean Astin) grew up in a steel mill town where most people ended up working, but wanted to play football at Notre Dame instead. There were only a couple of problems. His grades were a little low, his athletic skills were poor, and he was only half the size of the other players. But he had the drive and the spirit of 5 people and has set his sights upon joining the team.

3.Friday Night Lights(2004)

This movie tells the story of a West Texas town and its obsession with High School Football. It shows how the expectations of classmates, coaches, family and community members exact a toll on the players who are looked upon as gods but who are still just kids.

4.We Are Marshall(2006)
When a plane crash claims the lives of members of the Marshall University
football team and some of its fans, the team's new coach (McConaughey)
and his surviving players try to keep the football program alive.

5.Invincible(2006)
Vince Papale (Mark Wahlberg) is a 30-year-old bartender who has just lost his part-time teaching job. Disgusted with his professional failure, his wife abruptly leaves him. With the support of all his friends from the neighborhood, Papale goes out for an open tryout practice; catching the attention of coach Vermeil, he is invited to come along to training camp. Papale eventually makes the team, and in the second regular season game versus the New York Giants, he recovers a fumble and returns it
for a touchdown, which leads to Vermeil's first victory with the Eagles.

6. Gridiron Gang (2006)

Based on the true story of the Kilpatrick Mustangs during the 1990 season,
the very first in which they played eleven man football. Kilpatrick is a facility located in Malibu, California for juvenile delinquents with multiple offenses. The overall moral is that even though people deal with difficulties in their lives, these young teenagers overcome their fears and frustrations using self-discipline and learn to leave their problems on the football field.

7.The Express(2008)
Based on the incredible true story, The Express follows the inspirational
life of college football hero Ernie Davis (Rob Brown), the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. Following his draft by the NFL, tragedy struck the star athlete and he was never able to take the professional field. But his tale would forever change the face of
professional sports.

8. Any Given Sunday(1999)
The film deals with the fictional Miami Sharks, a once-great team now in turmoil and struggling to make the playoffs. It examines many different aspects of American football, including the players, staff, front office, politicians, and press, and the pressures that they face.

9. The Replacements (2000)
Based on the 1987 professional football players' strike.
Gene Hackman plays the coach of the team, Jack Warden is the owner,
Brett Cullen is the All-Pro quarterback that goes on strike and
Keanu Reeves is the "scab" who replaces the star QB.

10. Varsity Blues (1999)
The movie follows a small-town high school football team and
their overbearing coach through a tumultuous season. The players must deal with the pressures of adolescence and their football obsessed community while having their hard coach on their back constantly.

Because it's an inspiration to see someone who is
very unlikely to win,
to actually try still.

Rooting for the Cardinals!
